European Junior Rowing Championships: GB Team

Whilst most of the UK are busy getting prepared for the National Schools Regatta, a six-strong team of scullers are travelling to Gravelines in Northern France to the compete at the European Junior Rowing Championships.

All six athletes competing already have GB vests from this season or last, competing at Munich International Regatta earlier this month, or for Phoebe Campbell who did not attend Munich this year, racing as part of the JW4x at last year's Junior World Championships in Trakai, which finished just out of the medals. Phoebe, of Thames Tradesmen RC, will race in her single at the European Championships. Read up on the Munich results from day 1 and day 2

Laurence Joss of Tideway Scullers School will race in the single, looking to improve on his fourth place finish in the JM1x at Munich to sneak into the medals. TSS also send Izzy Lack, only a J16, who will compete in the JW2x this weekend alongside Rhiannon Morgan of Gloucester RC. These girls placed second in the quad at Munich so will be keen to emulate that success in this double.

James Cartwright (Gloucester RC) and Jake Offiler (Globe RC) complete the team and will race in the JM2x. They raced in this lineup at Munich, finishing second in the B final of JM2x in a time that would have put them fourth in the A final, as well as taking a bronze medal in the quad together.

Catch out instagram story to keep updated with what the team get up to over the weekend.
