Racing gets into full swing today at the Coupe de la Jeunesse held at the National Rowing Centre in Cork, Ireland after yesterday’s girl’s’ eights race. Fifteen girls athletes have been selected to represent GB this year- a full team list can be found below.
On the sculling side, like the JM team, a single, double and quad have been fielded to race over the weekend. Georgia Shirley of Royal Chester RC will race the JW1x in her first international appearance after being selected for the GB potentials camp earlier this year. Emily Keen (Sir William Perkin’s School) and Rhiannon Morgan (Gloucester RC) find themselves together racing the JW2x once again, after taking a storming victory in their final on day 2 of Munich International Regatta earlier this year, maintaining a twelve and twenty three second margin over their Polish and Swiss counterparts respectively. Rhiannon takes additional experience from racing at the Junior European Championships earlier in May, as well as an impressive qualification in the women’s doubles at Henley Royal Regatta earlier this month alongside Gloucester RC teammate Bryony Lawrence or Junior Worlds success a few seasons ago.
Rhiannon’s doubles partner at Junior Europeans and J16 standout Izzy Lack of TSS is joined by Molesey’s Ellie Alexopoulos, Marlow’s Daisy Bellamy and Chester-le-Street’s Eve Larsen in the Jw4x.
