If you're reading this, you've probably been selected to race for the GBR crews at the 2023 U19 World Championships in Vaires-sur-Marne at the start of August. That's a pretty massive achievement, and we know the sheer amount of work that goes into getting to this level, some of the team have got these vests in the past, it’s an awesome achievement that’ll stick with you forever.
As you'll know, we cover the vast majority of UK domestic rowing events throughout the season and we know a lot of you will have supported us throughout the last few years, whether that's buying images of you racing at NSR, or even just liking one of our Instagram posts every so often.
The international summer events often pose a challenge for us, as we receive no funding from BR or any other organisations to attend. It also requires some of our photographers/videographers to be comfortable going and working for the better part of a week without being paid.
After long budget discussions with British Rowing this season, our high level of coverage was not financially feasible for them in 2023 and therefore we are not working with them for this year’s international events. British Rowing, along with multiple other nations, have contracted Row360 to shoot at the event. However, when shooting multiple nations at once, we’ve noticed that their level of content is significantly lower than ours over previous years.
We do everything we can to go, partly because we love going & seeing how you all get on, and partly because we want to continue providing you, the athletes, with the best coverage possible so that you're always able to look back and remember these amazing achievements.
Similar to what we’ve done every year since 2018, we're offering the opportunity for us to head out and shoot the event for you in return for a contribution which will help cover expenses of attending including flights and accommodation.
Our total expenses for this trip come out to just over a grand. We believe around 39x U19 GBR athletes are racing, so this would come out to around 26.00 GBP per athlete.
Similar to U19 & U23 World Championships in Varese, Italy last year, we'll provide a free-download gallery of images from across the entire week including boating photos, racing images, celebration shots (hopefully!) and anything else we capture. This usually comes out to around 1000 images across the course of the event. You'll also receive a discount on all printed images orders. All images can be used by you, schools, universities etc.
If we surpass this funding goal, every penny will still go into providing as much quality content as possible for you, whether that's more staff, extra rental equipment, merchandise, or anything in-between. 100% of revenue raised goes solely into this project.
If we do not reach this funding goal, we will aim to still come and photograph the weekend only, where every GB athlete will be racing in any case.
If, unfortunately, we are not able to go, every athlete, parent, or supporter who has contributed will receive a full refund. Please do share this with anyone you you may think would be willing to support.
